These changes are reflected in the German indices.

Yesterday evening after the US market closed, Stoxx, the index subsidiary of Deutsche Börse AG, announced the changes in the German selection indices DAX, TecDAX, MDAX and SDAX. I will give you an overview of the changes that will take place on Monday, December 18th.

No changes in DAX and TecDAX As expected, there are no changes in the DAX. Although Lufthansa and Fresenius Medical Care were two promising candidates for a return to the blue-chip index, there were no compelling relegation candidates according to the so-called „fast exit rule“. Normally, the DAX is only reviewed in March and September.

Although the TecDAX is reviewed quarterly, there will also be no changes in the technology index on December 18th.

Three changes in the MDAX Plenty of movement in the mid and smallcaps. Let’s start with the MDAX. Three values have to say goodbye and will be listed in the SDAX in the future. One of them is ProSiebenSat.1 Media. The television station group was even represented in the DAX for a while. In the future, the share, which is now almost 90% below its record price, will only exist in the SDAX. In addition, the recycling specialist Befesa and the plant builder Dürr have to go down.

The vacant places are taken by three returners. From now on, the real estate company Aroundtown, the wafer producer Siltronic and Krones, the world’s leading manufacturer of beverage filling machines, will be represented in the MDAX again.

Furniture rearrangement in the SDAX Furthermore, there are three more changes in the SDAX. Three titles have to say goodbye to the subvalue index and will be listed in a selection index in the future. In addition to the IT security specialist Secunet and New Work (formerly Xing), Zeal Network is also affected. With the online lottery provider, however, there is something new. The reason for leaving is not the low stock market value (the share has gained 12% since the beginning of the year), but the weak trading volume.

In addition to the MDAX downgraders, there are three newcomers in the SDAX. As expected, the stock market newcomer Schott Pharma will be listed in the subvalue index in the future. In addition, the participation company Mutares and the pump manufacturer KSB are moving into the SDAX.

While Schott’s share so far only has a very short stock market history, both Mutares and KSB are in a stable upward trend. For trend followers, both SDAX newcomers are certainly worth a look.
