Douglas: IPO in 2024 – Interesting for Investors?

Last Updated: 21. Dezember 2023By

By 2013, there had already been a Douglas share, before the cosmetics retailer was taken off the stock exchange after a takeover. Now the comeback seems to be imminent: The owners (financial investor CVC at 85 percent, the Kreke family at 15 percent) are planning an IPO for next year.

According to news agencies, a valuation of up to 7 billion euros is in the room. But would a Douglas share be interesting for investors? The current business figures show that retail chains can also grow – and Douglas wants to continue to expand in the coming years.

Douglas closes financial year with record At the end of September, Douglas closed the financial year 2022/2023 and now presented convincing figures. Compared to the previous year, sales rose by around 12 percent to 4.1 billion euros. And the adjusted EBITDA also increased by around 22 percent to around 726 million euros. In the end, Douglas remains with a profit of 16.7 million euros.

The company has continued its expansion strategy. In total, the company operates around 1,850 branches throughout Europe. In the past financial year, 39 new branches were added, 26 of them in Eastern Europe. Douglas has opened its first branches in Belgium and Slovenia.

Douglas share: Here investors can look more closely Remarkably, Douglas manages to increase both the branch business and the online business. Both areas have grown in terms of sales in the double-digit percentage range in 2022/2023. And Douglas also plans growth for the next few years – by 2026 the group’s sales should be at 5 billion euros.

Therefore investors should pay attention to a Douglas IPO in 2024. The cosmetics company is currently a testament to the fact that so-called omnichannel models – that is, expansion in stationary retail and growth in the online sector – can work.

When and under what market conditions a Douglas IPO in 2024 will take place is not yet known. The valuation of up to 7 billion euros is also only an initial estimate. With strong business figures and prospects, however, the likelihood increases that the Douglas IPO will be successful.
