Commerzbank Receives Crypto Custody License Commerzbank has received the crypto custody license according to § 1 Abs. 1 a Satz 1 Nr. 6 Kreditwesengesetz (KWG) as the first German universal bank. The license enables the bank to build up a wide range of services in the area of digital assets, specifically crypto assets. In the first step, the bank aims to provide its institutional customers with a secure, regulatory compliant and reliable platform for the custody of crypto assets based on blockchain technology. Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum are among the crypto assets.

With the receipt of the license, Commerzbank has reached an important milestone. It underscores the bank’s previous commitment to the use of the latest technologies and innovations and is the basis for accompanying Commerzbank customers in the area of digital assets around Bitcoin, Ethereum and Co.
