There have been numerous changes in the DAX family.
It’s that time again: The big reshuffle in the German stock indices at the end of the year! Last night, several changes in the German index family (consisting of the DAX, MDAX, SDAX and TecDAX) were decided by the German Stock Exchange, which will soon come into force.
Before I go into the details of the changes, a few words on the adjustment dates first: DAX and Co. are adjusted in the last month of each quarter. However, the review in March and September takes place differently than in June and December. I will explain what the differences are soon in this place in the „final bell“. The latest index review has resulted in the following changes:
Several changes in the MDAX The successful plant builder Krones, which had to give way for regulatory reasons in the DAX family this year, recently returned to the index family and initially joined the SDAX. Now Krones will soon also be represented in the MDAX again.
In addition, the real estate company Aroundtown and the wafer manufacturer Siltronic will move into the MDAX. Both companies recently recorded significant gains in their shares, which now pave the way into the MDAX.
The media company ProsiebenSat1 Media, the plant builder and automotive supplier Dürr and the raw material recycler Befesa, however, have to leave the index. Here, a poor course development was recently recorded in the book.
Much more has happened in the SDAX New in the sub-index SDAX will soon be the MDAX dropouts ProSiebenSat1, Dürr and Befesa. In addition, the pharmaceutical packaging company Schott Pharma, the investment company Mutares and the pump specialist KSB will soon move into the SDAX.
Secunet, the online lottery provider Zeal Network and the platform operator New Work (formerly Xing) have to leave the SDAX. The MDAX climbers Aroundtown, Siltronic and Krones will also soon leave the SDAX. Nothing has changed in the Technology Index TecDAX and in the DAX.
Don’t follow the index changes blindly Finally, a classification of the topic: Basically, the ascent into an index of the DAX family can also be associated with a price increase. This is mainly because index funds (ETFs) must take the shares of the climbers into their portfolio. The shares of the descendents subsequently develop partly negatively.
But since neither it is generally the case that the climbers develop positively in the course of it, nor it is generally the case that the descendents develop permanently negatively in the course of it, you should not generally buy the climbers and sell the descendents. Check the fundamental data before buying or selling!
