German Telekom stock: solid opportunities for investors

Last Updated: 30. Januar 2024By

The Deutsche Telekom share has started off with gains in 2024 after a generally solid year on the stock market in 2023. The stock is currently trading at around 23 euros, which is in the range of the multi-year high from the last few days or spring of 2023 (as of January 30, 2024, around 10 a.m.).

A few days ago, the US subsidiary T-Mobile presented its fourth quarter figures, and in just over three weeks, Deutsche Telekom will follow suit and present its quarterly report. The prospects are still good – growth opportunities for the telecom company are present on both sides of the Atlantic. Long-term investors should keep an eye on the stock.

T-Mobile US and Telekom with good prospects Although the recent quarterly figures for T-Mobile US have partly missed expectations, with earnings of $1.67 per share falling slightly below expectations, the company is still well positioned and continues to gain market share. Last year, T-Mobile added 3.1 million new customers, more than its competitors.

For the current fiscal year 2024, T-Mobile US is also optimistic. The modern 5G network is expected to attract 5 to 5.5 million new customers this year alone. In addition, the US subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom expects an operating profit between $31.3 and $31.9 billion – 9 percent more than last year.

The parent company in Germany is also doing well thanks to its 5G and fiber optic expansion. On February 23, Deutsche Telekom will present its Q4 figures and close out the full year 2023. This could also provide fresh impetus for the Deutsche Telekom share.

Deutsche Telekom share with long-term potential The growth of the telecom company is evident both in Germany and the USA. At the same time, the Deutsche Telekom share has been performing solidly for years – a clear indication of its more than 60 percent increase in value over the last 5 years without extreme fluctuations. In addition, the T-share offers participation in the form of dividends and share buyback programs.

The vast majority of analysts still see potential in the Deutsche Telekom share. As an example, at the end of last week, JPMorgan confirmed its target price of 31 euros after T-Mobile’s figures were released. Medium and long-term investors should keep the telecom company’s stock on their radar.
